Medical Education Unit (MEU)

As a new paradigm concept in medical education, all Faculties of Medicine in Indonesia have formed the Faculty Medical Education Center/Medical Education Unit (MEU). The Medical Education Unit is a subdivision of the Faculty/University that is responsible to the Dean/Rector under the Vice-Dean 1.

Principal tasks of the MEU:

  1. To develop the curriculum, from the planning of the curriculum, assessment system, up to and including the learning and teaching methods, and to conduct monitoring and evaluation of the learning process.
  2. To perform training and development of educational staff or lecturers associated with curricular development, and planning of the evaluation of the learning and teaching methods.

The Medical Education Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of Trisakti University consists of three subunits, namely the Curricular subunit, Assessment subunit, and the Training and Development of Learning subunit.

Principal tasks of the Curricular Subunit

  1. To construct a faculty curricular plan based on the Indonesian Medical Competency Standards and the agreed-on local content.
  2. To construct a curricular implementation plan (in cooperation with the Medical Science Study Program Coordinator and the Medical Profession Study Program Coordinator).
  3. To develop or revise the curriculum if and when necessary.
  4. To evaluate the results of the implementation of the curriculum (in cooperation with the Medical Science Study Program Coordinator and the Medical Profession Study Program Coordinator).

Principal tasks of the Assessment Subunit

  1. To facilitate the availability of a test bank for students’ module examinations and the transport of the test papers during the operation of the Competency Test of the Medical Profession Study Program.
  2. To construct training plans to improve the quality of educational staff in the evaluation of the results of learning.
  3. To evaluate the current grading system.

Principal tasks of the Subunit for Training and Development of Learning 

  1. To organize training for improving the quality of the educational staff in developing learning methods and the evaluation system (in coordination with the subunit associated with training).
  2. To plan the evaluation form that is to be used in the Medical Science Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program for monitoring the learning and teaching activities as a type of learning development.
  3. To provide feedback on the results of the evaluations carried out by the Medical Science Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program on the implementation of the learning and teaching activities, the results of which are to be used for the development of medical education.

The Leadership of the Faculty of Medicine of Trisakti University highly support the curricular development activities by conducting training and also the manufacture of teaching aids such as skill-learning videos. Curriculum development is performed in the Medical Science Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program.

Coordination Meetings of MEU members are also routinely held to evaluate the implementation of the work program.
